Goats

We have three basic groups of goats:

  • Domestic Goat
  • Boer-goats
  • Saanen-goats

The normal domestic goat that lives outside during the whole year in a group together with black sheep. It is known for its wonderful long hair, which is often used as collar trimming.

The second group consists of goats imported from South Africa, the BOER goats. This type of goat is raised for meat production and is therefore fed with pellets; nevertheless, they have about 6 ha land just as the others. We started breeding these goats approx. 3 years ago with a doe herd of 12 animals which has increased up to now to 52 pregnant does.

The last group consists of dairy goats originally from Switzerland, the SAANEN goats. The herd has been purchased this year and consists of 24 does and 2 bucks. The first 4 does have already given birth to goatlings so that we can start experimentation with this milk. This type of goat is bred for its milk which gives a very nourishing goat cheese. Presently we are experimenting to develop products for the market.
